Fall is here and with it comes apples; apple cider, apple donuts, apple butter and of course apple pie. After a day of apple picking nothing is better than a home made apple pie. The smell fills the house with the feeling of home. If you don’t have time to pick stop by the local fruit stand and pick up fresh local apples. Here is my favorite apple pie recipe.
Best Every Apple Pie
Ingredients:
1 box prepared pie crust, 2 crust one for bottom and one for top
6-7 medium granny smith apples, pealed, cored and sliced
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
3/4 – 1 tsp. cinnamon
1 T. lemon juice
3-4 tsp butter, sliced
Preheat oven to 425. Place one of prepared pie crust in bottom of pie plate, gently press into form of plate.
Peal, core and slice apples. Sprinkle lemon juice on them to keep them from turning brown. Mix together dry ingredients, mix in apples. Place apple mixture in pie shell. Dot apples with butter. Cover with second pie crust, fold under the edges and press with fork. Cut vent hole in the top of pie crust. Place pie plate on a baking sheet and bake pie for about 45-55 min, until crust is golden brown. If the edges start to get too brown cover them with foil. Let pie cool before serving.
ENJOY!! Happy picking!
